E25 | Sovereignty & Reconciliation, with the powerful Yarramunua
Voiceclub is drawing together seekers of wisdom, meaning, and purpose. It’s a podcast, YouTube channel, events platform, and culture-making project, for those awake enough to recognise i) the importance of individual sovereignty and collective responsibility, and ii) the necessary, intriguing, challenging task of sensemaking in the modern world.

Why should you listen to this episode?
Well, I didn’t come at this conversation with a strict objective in mind, other than to show up and engage in an honest exploration. To get to know Yarra but also to see about grasping the world together. We’d met on two occasions before. The first was a powerful experience for me, and we touch on that later in the conversation. I felt an energy I liked: an energy I wanted to share and co-create with.
See I’m interested in stewards of wisdom. You can tell when it’s earned. And I respect the attitude that the hard won wisdom of the past ought be made available to all. More, I believe that healthy reconciliation of energy truncated and tightened by deep wounds must involve a vision of the future wherein each one of us is afforded the opportunity to grow, develop, and take our place in the collective dance. It is clear to the extent our collective future is one defined by domination and extraction — and expansion without love for its roots, then it is a future which is doomed.
Now, when it comes to reconciliation, I don’t want to flippantly cast over systemic issues as though they weren’t a relevant part of the conversation. But I do know that a society which takes its members to belong, in their core most nature, either to a class of oppressed or oppressor is doomed to perpetuate a de-individualising spiral of decay — inevitably at the hand of ruthless individualists, mind you.
No, what of love? What of spirit? What of a common humanity? There is darkness there, no doubt. There’s no need to deny it. In fact that would be a grave mistake. But we are more.
We are each so much more.
And we forget that often. And sometimes we do a bad job of recognising that in each other. And sometimes our wounding is so deep and our compensation so rigid that before we have the chance to feel the light of our own self worth – love for the breath and opportunity of life – we instead react to the walls of our pain — a pain that if you trace it runs to the core of our nature. A pain of not becoming who we could be. A pain of not becoming who we are. A pain of unworthiness to face the eternal face of absurdity and finitude and self-perpetuation of the cosmic game. But you are many faces. And the face you face has many faces.
By the nature of absurdity life cannot be totally absurd.
This, for what it’s worth is a few coins into a wishing well. And perhaps they are not coins. And perhaps it is no well.
