E53| What Is Philosophy? w/ Christopher Mastropietro & Tim Adalin

A dialogue about what philosophy means to a couple of guys who care a lot about that stuff.

    • Transformation, lockdown, dislocation and renewal

    • What is philosophy?

    • Philosophy as the revelation of ignorance, as know thyself, as silence

    • On aesthetic intuition, logic, symmetry, and the abyss

    • Philosophy as holding to an integrity of rhythmic call and response

    • What is the relationship between logos and eros?

    • What new context for philosophy is calling to be built?

    • What are the virtues and vices appearing in emergent contexts for philosophy?

    • Speech, death and music

  • Christopher Mastropietro is a philosopher and co-author of the book Zombies In Western Culture: A 20th Century Crisis with John Vervaeke and Filip Miscevic. A long time research and writing partner of John’s, he’s co-authored several other papers and made many outstanding contributions to philosophical dialogues on YouTube, for channels including Parallax, A Quality Existence, Paul VanderKlay, John Vervaeke & Guy Sengstock. He’s currently recording a multi-part series with John Vervaeke and Gregg Henriques, ‘The Elusive “I”‘ here.

  • Tim is the producer of Voicecraft. He is a philosopher whose work focuses on the relation between participation and transformation, and integrates metaphysical and scientific modes of understanding. The primary medium of this work lives in embodied relationality with friends, family, and peers. He is concerned with the vital connections between psyche, culture, and nature, and is developing networks and communities that support wiser contexts for education, contribution, and belonging.

  • Voicecraft conversations expand how the world is known.

We create media that seeks to add value to the commons, with interests in the fundamental dynamics of psyche, culture, and nature.

Voicecraft is comprised of a media & events platform, academy, and participatory membership network: cultivating culture in participation with open hearts and dedicated minds.
