Underground Philosophy returns in 2025 with a new venue and format.
We have booked the upstairs function room at The Castle Hotel as it allows tables of 6-8 and a capacity 60-80, along with pre-booked dinner service. At The Castle, we'll integrate periods of participation / conversation, as well as shared attention / audience time, making room for dialogue and talks on stage. We will still host events at the Motley theatre later in the year.
The topic for our first event at The Castle is Future Melbourne.
We will be connecting with themes of culture, potential, and what it means (and what it could mean) to live, work, and create here. Melbourne is a land on the periphery of global consciousness and geopolitical tension, a land steeped in deep time and natural abundance, endeavouring to integrate the values, clashes, histories and logics of modern, postmodern and indigenous ways of being and design.
In recognition of the powerful and fragile systems which influence our behaviour, on what basis can we build true strength, anti-fragility, and envision futures which integrate our living history even as we experiment in the evolution of culture?
