E81| A Bishop, Zen Roshi, Sufi & Philosopher visit Voicecraft Live

An evening of interfaith exchange with Bishop Lindsay Urwin, Kirk Fisher Roshi, Sieta Beckwith, student in the Naqshbandiyya-Mujaddidiyya Order of Sufism, philosopher Tim Adalin and the Voicecraft Live community.

  • Lindsay Urwin is Vicar of Christ Church Brunswick and Bishop to the Anglican schools at Anglican Diocese of Melbourne.

During the week, Lindsay can often be found brewing some delicious tea and coffee at The Lamb & Flag on Sydney Road, which runs a free community lunch at 11.30 on Thursdays.

  • Kirk Fisher Roshi is a teacher of the Diamond Sangha Zen lineage. He teaches at the Melbourne Zen Group and the Hobart Mountains and Rivers Zen Sangha.

Kirk also explores Zen in non-traditional contexts including the workplace, activism and psychology. The value of Zen is not in technique, but the warmth and curiousity it fosters.

  • Sieta is the Narrative Director at CERES in Melbourne, and a student in the Naqshbandiyya-Mujaddidiyya Order of Sufism.

At CERES, her role is to connect many and varied stories across regenerative farming programs, environmental education, social enterprises and community participation, into an impactful, unified narrative. Together, these stories aim to change the systems that no longer serve our world, and help people fall in love with the earth again.

She co-hosts Nature-Based Leadership training, a yearly program which is open for 20224 admissions here.

  • Tim Adalin is a philosopher with a focus on the relation between participation and transformation. This focus has found form in relation to questions of metaphysics (what is, what knowing is, and what is the nature of, and our involvement with, the process of valuation). Across evolving interests in the realms of consciousness and the nature of meaning and identity, from perspectives philosophical, psychological, biological, anthropological, sociological, theological etc., this focus has graduated the recognition that the process of communication, or the transmutation of perception into expression as a generative-relational process of crafting voice, is pivotal to the realisation of desired existential realities.

  • Voicecraft conversations expand how the world is known.

We create media that seeks to add value to the commons, with interests in the fundamental dynamics of psyche, culture, and nature.

Voicecraft is comprised of a media & events platform, academy, and participatory membership network: cultivating culture in participation with open hearts and dedicated minds.
